The Mitchell Library, Sydney, in its Album of Drawings and Engravings, 1802-1902 by Philip Parker King, reference number PXC 767, includes on p 69 an ink and wash drawing titled Captain FitzRoy H M S Beagle, 1838, a sketch by Philip Gidley King, the younger, son of Philip Parker King. It appears to be the original for this lithograph. It is likely to have been drawn shortly after FitzRoy returned to London from his voyage with the Beagle
