\"The origins of Methodism in Samoa date back to 1828, when Tongan preachers arrived, preceding English missionary John Williams by two years. Even today, the Methodist Church is called `Lotu Tonga' - the religion that came from Tonga.
\"The district of Matafele, in the heart of Apia, was traditionally the home of the Methodist mission, and the Methodist Church was built there.
