Description

Mrs Mii Mata of Porirua watches as her daughter, Mrs Rau Tere, cuts a lock of hair from the head of 7 year old Marama Mata, as part of his coming of age ceremony. This ceremony is a Rarotongan custom. Photograph taken by Evening Post staff photographer Ian Mackley on the 29th of October 1979.
