Photographs relating to Sir Arthur's long career in medicine, athletics, as a Governor General to New Zealand. Includes photographs of early life and career of his father, Dr E E Porritt; early family life; education at Wanganui Collegiate, Otago University and Oxford; period as games master at Croydon School; medical career; athletic career, as athlete (he won a bronze medal at the 1924 Olympic Games) and administrator; service during World War 2, including Normandy and Belsen concentration camp; and career as Governor General of New Zealand. Contains good good views of social life in England between the wars.
