Taxidermist Wim Spiekman looking at a stuffed giant geko, rediscovered in a French museum and brought to Wellington for exhibition. The gecko may be the kawekaweau of Maori legend, closely related to a taniwha. Photograph taken circa 19 March 1990 by Evening Post staff photographer Ray Pigney.
