An extensive view from the front garden of John King's station, with a fence, groups of trees and a wide bush-clad plain. Mount Buller is indicated on the left.
Mr John King's station was called "Snakes Ridge" rather than "Snakes Bridge" as previously transliterated. See letter from Coral Dow, AT 13/14/1, 14 October 1999.
The area depicted was known at the time as 'The great plain of the La Trobe'.
The oil painting ‘Mr John King’s Station, 1861’ in a private colection is based on this drawing.
