On extreme left: Jim Norton

Three women standing on left: Emma Toms, Kitty Norton, Clare Toms

Centre front; elderly woman seated: Katarina Hikimapu, wife of William Henry Keenan

Extreme right: Captain Henry Fisk of the Torea

Standing high on right: Ike Fisk, Henry Fisk's son

Below Ike; with beard: Joe Toms

Below Joe Toms; to his left: Harriet Toms, wife of Joe

Photocopy of a cutting (from an unidentified publication) with the file print reads: The man on the extreme left was Jim Norton who was recognised at the time as the best lancer at Te Awaiti. The three women standing from left are Emma Toms, Kitty Norton and Clara Toms, and the man next to them is a Keenan. The boy next to them is a Norton; Joe Toms is next, and the man standing on the extreme right belongs to the Torea [the mailboat in the background]. The old Maori woman seated in the centre of the front row is Mrs William Keenan. Her Maori name was was Hikimapu (Catherine in English). Mick Toms is on one side of her and Minnie Toms on the other side. The big man on the extreme right is Captain H Fisk, and right is Captain H Fisk, and just behind him is his son Ike, the engineer on the Torea. Joe Toms' wife Harriet, is standing in front of him and slightly to his side. The rest of the group are natives of Te Awaiti..."
