Seated: Thomas Kennedy Macdonald, Augustus Carl Ferdinand Koch, and F Grady. Photograph taken by Herrmann in about 1897. The portrait of Charles Barraud is by James Nairn, and was painted in 1897 which was also the year of Barraud's death (Info from Rebecca Rice, 2009). Source of descriptive information - Date and photographer identified by Library client. Formerly identified as New Zealand Academy of Fine Arts first council, circa 1908. Source of descriptive information - date 1897 for the portrait of Barraud by James Nairn supplied by library client. Also suggested that this may have been a retrospective gathering of men associated with the transition of the Fine Arts Association of New Zealand to the New Zealand Academy of Fine Arts in 1889.
