Mock moa hunt, Botanical Gardens, Dunedin, 1899. Shows Peter Buck (left) and two companions "hunting" a moa which had been reconstructed from a skeleton. The other two men were possibly Koroneho Himi Papakakura and Tutere Wirepa. Photographed by Dunedin photographer, Guy, in 1899.

The museum moa was placed in the Dunedin Public Gardens and the "hunters" were from left: Te Rangihiroa (Sir Peter Buck) Hemi Papakura and Tutere Wirepa."

Taken in the Botanical gardens, Dunedin. At International Exhibition in Ch'ch, in 1907. Published Weekly News, 9th Jan 1907. (NB. not in this issue or any other for January 1907)"

Rowan Gibbs states (June 2007) that an original copy of this photograph has the name "Guy" on it. Guy was a Dunedin based photographer flourishing from the late 1890s to 1920.
