Back of postcard featuring a letter from Thomas to Nell dated 13th September 1918.
Text read:
My dear sweet Nell, Uncle Tom informed me last night that there was another English Mail which closes at 8pm (late fee) this evening, so thought I would send you a card rather than miss it altogether. I went to see Alice Louise last night. She is a bit run-down, & her heart is still a bit weak as a result of the goitre trouble she had about 2 years ago. Alice is having a quiet rest in a private hospital & is is doing splendidly. I took her a book, some manderines, & sent a lovely lot of violets earlier in the week. Alf embarked for America Wednesday evening, where is [sic] going on a purely business trip. He may go to Japan also, but will not be away longer than he can help. Alice (sister) sent me a note to say she & Wal have secured a house which is near to where they are now living. They do not shift till early next month. Oceans of love Thomas.
