Kurī

The Polynesian dog brought to New Zealand by immigrant Māori, but extinct by the twentieth century. General term for dogs. Traditional usage: A variety of dog, now extinct, used for food and for its hide, made into cloaks, etc. Contemporary usage: Use for any type of dog.
