- Description
Shows a full length figure of a tattooed man with an ornate small flat headdress. He holds a bow in his right hand and a handful of arrows in his left hand.
The figure is very similar to that entitled "Noukahiva (Oceania)" at A-119-030. The image is therefore derived from that in Kruzenstern, A Atlas... 1824 (f910.4 Kru). Pl. 10. Kruzensterns' voyage took place 1803-1806. A variant of the same image is also reproduced in A Wahlen, Moeurs, usages et costumes... Oceanie Bruxelles, 1845. Pl. 200.
