Comprises original and transcripts of letters written by Mortimer-Jones to various members of his family in 1909 from the time he left England on the `Tongariro' to work as a home missionary based in the Hokianga area. He writes of his passage, arrival in NZ, daily activities, various church people and the people he met, services he conducted, his work, and the different parts of Northland he visited in the course of it.
Also includes photocopies of letters and reports from the `St James's, Fulham, parish magazine' (1909-1911)
Also transcripts of letters from Rev Mortimer-Jones, published in Cambridge Anglican parish magazine written while he was serving as a chaplain with the New Zealand Expeditionary Force, 1917-1919 and reminiscences comprising four items relating to the time he spent in Northland, `Some New Zealand coastal steamers and my 1910 visit to Kaitaia; the little coastal steamers of New Zealand', `The old mission house at Waimate North', `Christchurch, Russell' and `Churches in the north'.
