Wrecks of the American naval ships 'Trenton', 'Vandalia' and 'Nipsic' after the hurricane on 16 March 1889, in Apia Harbour. Photograph taken by an unidentified photographer; negative and inscription made by David Alexander De Maus from an original print.

Inscriptions: Photographer's title on negative - bottom centre - "Trenton" "Vandalia." "Nipsia" [i.e. Nipsic]. Samoa disaster.
