Humphreys, Edward Wingfield, 1841-1892

Member of Parliament. He came to Otago in 1864 and took up a property st Strath-Taieri. In 1888 he left this station and settled in Christchurch. He was elected to Parliament as a supporter of the Atkinson government for Christchurch North, 1889 to 1890. In 1891 he was elected to Christchurch City Council but resigned because of ill-health. He married Alice Hawdon on the 21st of April 1869 in Christchurch.
