Lieutenant-General Sir Puttick served in WWI, was captain of the Samoan expedition in 1914 and commander of the 3rd and 4th Battalions of the New Zealand Rifle Brigade (1914-1918). Commander of New Zealand's armed forces during World War II. Photographed in army uniform with Hon W Perry during Perry's visit to a New Zealand General Hospital in New Caledonia during World War II; CB, DSO.
