Public servant, former Director General of New Zealand Post Office. Fellow of the Institute of Electrical Engineers (UK), member of the Institute of Engineers (NZ); awarded CBE in 1872. Had keen interest in New Zealand art. See Evening Post Obituaries (Thursday, February 14, 2002, p 7)
