Ellen, Vera, 1926-

Appointed Justice of the Peace. Trained as a nurse at Wellington Hospital 1948-1951, and worked for some years in the USA and UK. Held various positions on her return to New Zealand, becoming Matron/Principal nurse at Hutt Hospital. Very involved with the National Council of Women, becoming President of the Hutt Branch, and remained on the Executive until 1993. Daughter of John Thomas Jabez Ellen (1895-1930) and Edna (née Scarlett; 1901-1985)
