Motor vessel `Rangitane' photographed in Wellington Harbour circa 1950, possibly on its maiden voyage, by William Hall Raine.
The `Rangitane' was built in 1949 by Messrs Vickers, Armstrong Ltd on the Clyde, Scotland, for the New Zealand Shipping Company Ltd. She was a twin screw motorship of 21,809 tons gross, and had a deadweight tonnage of 15000. Her speed was 17 knots.
