Photographer of Napier; shareholder of Pinehurst Limited, Lower Moutere (1933-1949). Established Broma Studio of Nelson, which was taken over by A R Kingsford when Hurst moved to Napier in 1919. Father of Audrey McKelvie (of McKelvie Studios in Wellington) and Peter Hurst.
