Hooper, Basil Bramston, 1876-1960

Architect in Dunedin area. Born in Lahore, India; emigrated to New Zealand in 1885 with his aunt to live at Cambridge. After an apprenticeship to a Cambridge builder, he trained as an architect, and in 1896 was articled to the Dunedin architect J. L. Salmond. In February 1901 he left to study in England, returning in 1904 to Dunedin, where he practiced until his retirement in 1948. He died at Waiuku.
