Chute, Trevor (Sir), 1816-1886

Soldier. Born in County Kerry, Ireland. In 1864 came to New Zealand with the 70th Regiment. Led campaign in Taranaki against Maori in 1865-1866. CMG 1867. Married Ellen Browning 8 July 1868 in Melbourne. See DNZB (1990) v.I (1769-1869), p82
