Lawyer, politician, land owner and developer, conservationist. Student at Wellington College from 1875-1880. Married Isabel Jane Hodgkins, sister of Frances Hodgkins, in 1893. Barrister and solicitor. Waikanae landowner. MP for Otaki. Mountaineer; with father (Henry Claylands Field) he made the original exploration of "Fields track" from Wanganui to Karioi Plains.
