Lilburn, Gordon, 1915-2001
New Zealand composer and teacher, born in Wanganui. Lilburn studied composition at the Royal College of Music, London, and returned to New Zealand, establishing a tradition of New Zealand composition. He taught at Victoria University where he established its Electronic Music Studio. In 1984 he established the Lilburn Trust for the fostering, promotion and preservation of New Zealand music. In 1988 he was awarded the ONZ.
