Come join Alex Gibson and Graham Jenson, winners of the Supreme Data Mashup Award in 2011's Mix & Mash competition, as they share their experiences of creating intuitive, interactive data visualisations.
Their winning project '100 Companies' took a fresh approach to New Zealand's current economic situation, allowing users to view New Zealand's economy and adjust determining factors that affect our prosperity, in order to dispel some of the myths used to justify current policies.Using data from numerous sources (including government, industry and academia), they aggregated the knowledge into New Zealand specific standards (NZSIC, NZHIC), and modelled their projections using general assumptions.
Now working together as Hashbang, Alex and Graham will discuss some of the ideas and techniques you could use to make unique and meaningful data visualisations.
