Dr Art Buehler speaking on the Qur’an.
As part of the exhibition ‘To the ends of the earth’, Dr Art Buehler, Senior Lecturer in the Religious Studies Department at Victoria University, spoke to an audience of 60 people about the development of the written Qur’an beginning with the oral tradition.
He discussed the earliest written texts, the standardization of the text in c. 650, through the first printed Qur’an produced in Venice in 1538, to the King Fahd version(s) of around 1985. There was time for questions afterwards.
