On Friday, 25 August, people around New Zealand will be celebrating Phantom Billstickers National Poetry Day.

If you are interested in running an event, you can apply for seed-funding when you register. You can also find guidelines for planning and running event from the National Poetry Day website.

Although poetry has a place in our lives at any time, National Poetry Day provides opportunities for you and your students to experience and explore poetry through running or attending events around the country. There will also be competitions in the lead-up to Phantom Billstickers Poetry Day.

The 2017 events programme will be available from 1 August 2017.

Phantom Billstickers National Poetry Day is governed by the New Zealand Book Awards Trust.

Our poetry page has more about how you can share and inspire children to engage with poetry.
